Reflective Purposes

There is a new roommate in my apartment. I’m not entirely thrilled with the idea, but he seems nice enough. Nearly chased me out the door talking about Final Fantasy.

I had to get away though. So far I’ve found myself in two parks. The first had a farmers market. Not the best choice since I was hungry so I went to Park Avenue instead. It’s quiet and breezy. My only regret is not having my sketch pad or book.

I am currently sitting in front of a fountain. It’s quite lovely really. It has a lady in the middle playing a harp. The strings are water. I’m sure it is a common fountain.

Though it struck me oddly this time. A little sad even. It’s bad enough the lady is made of stone but to give her a harp that she could never play. It’s cruel. She has no control. Forced to look at something she can never do.

At least I can move around. Find something I can do. I guess my main take away is that I have control. No one else can determine for me what I will do. Where I will sit.

Thanks fountain lady. I needed that reminder. Now I’ll head back to my apartment and see what the purpose of this new person is. I should know by now, people cross our paths for a reason that we might not see.
